Text

I’ve been strapped to a bomb, automatic
Half-eaten in calm waters by a shark.
Stung by bees in walls of a dark attic.
Hit by a student driver as they tried to park.

That is how Love decided to present.
How fast It has seized and spread Its disease.
There is no warning, rose, or pleasant scent.
But Love never intends to displease.

Love whips sweet whirlwinds of words to listen.
Love, large, melts over me; I suffocate.
Love destroys body for demolition.
Every flaw, every prick, encapsulates.

A childhood home, with every creak and groan
Finding comfort in the cracks of each stone.
