<text> In the year 2050, the biggest leading breakthrough in technology was found by the name of Tony Star. He was an American scientist that perfected how to use AI plus create mind control to better influence the use of everything. Giving the human mind the to make calculations instantly, but still have those emotions if things ever were to go wrong. This eventually became a huge step in advanced technology helping with building better structures to withstand sea-level rise and stronger natural disasters. Star was also contracted by the US government to use this information for the evolution of US defense and aircraft. But with this discovery, there was high demand for control over this power in countries across the world, which led to Tony Star being found dead in his home as well as all of his work stolen. The Americans blamed the Chinese government for the assassination due to the high regime and army building they had seen by the Chinese government, but they denied any association with the killing. The United States took this as a serious threat to their society because with this power China or any country can hold huge amounts of power over the entire world.
In the following years, the use of Tony Star’s technology reached every country in the world. But ironically China was the first country to mass produce war robots by the millions daily. China became a massive problem for the world. They used these robots to conquer dozens of countries. The Russian leaders, becoming interested, joined China in their giant scheme to rule the world, joining forces to create the Communist Republic of Eastern Europe (CREE). Now
with control of the majority of Asia and Eastern Europe they were ready to start world war three.
The United States were eager to stop CREE due to the fact of the assassination of Tony Star still lingering in the past. The US gained support from countries all across Western Europe and South America due to the fact China was gaining too much power. With the power of this AI technology the US made evolutionary advances in weapons, aircrafts, and water warfare. Due to the high sea level rise across the globe people took notice of the only flaw of the CREE. Water. The robots cannot go into water without breaking or short circuiting. So, scientists created guns that shoot in water and breathable suits that let people breathe underwater. They mass produced these all across all of their allies and the United Nations was ready to wage war.
Fast forward 62 years to one of the toughest and important battles ever won by the Blaze team during the war. Outnumbered by robots 2000 to one, the Blaze team were fighting for their lives and for the lives of the future of the United States. The goal of the mission was to find any missing or injured people left, and to stop the robots from gaining control of South Florida. Little did they know that the hardships that happened during the battle led to the greatest day of mankind. The Battle of Miami.
The bombs were going off all night. With every impact it gets harder to sleep thinking about my wife and kids taken far away from me. But they're safe now and that's the reason I keep fighting. Minutes that felt like hours went by before I was awoken to the yells from down the hall from our Chief Mew.
“Everybody get the f*** up it's time to destroy these robots!”
All of my 60 squadmates bolt up and put on our freezing wet suits from yesterday's attacks. It was early morning and everyone was annoyed to get up especially when most of us are all sleep deprived. I got ready and went down to get something to eat at the little vending machine. It wasn’t on so I just punched the window and it shattered into pieces on the floor. There were a few Honey Buns and some Sour Patch Watermelon left in it, so I ate the Honey Buns and saved the candy if I ever get hungry later. I was moving up the stairs and luckily we picked one of the best run-down hotels in the city. The 1000 Museum Hotel in Brickell which was right next to the water. I got to glance at a stunning sunrise which gave me a little hope of having a normal life again.
Our team met at the bottom floor of the abandoned Icon Brickell hotel, where the bottom floor was mostly flooded. The bottom floor was dark and had no power. You could tell no one had lived there for a while due to all the cobwebs everywhere. It sort of creeped me out because I heard of old stories of the Tower of Terror in Disney World when I was a little kid. The whole concept of that creeped me out. The water had died down due to the construction of dam-like walls along the Miami River that were built a few years ago. They open and close remotely forcing water in and out. But this technology was for when the robots aren't here, so that when the robots come we can combat them with surprise in the dark and murky water.
My chief gathered all of us up to talk about the mission.
“We intercepted a message from the CREE that they are planning a full scale attack on Miami today. As they just took over the Carribean islands yesterday. I got no information from Washington DC, so I do not know when the backup will arrive. We are going to have to fight for our lives and for the people that are still living here. The goal of the mission today is to save ourselves, but most importantly save the people in this town. If we find any people we report it and tell them to find a safe place and wait for our rescue team.”
He paused, eyeing every soldier in the room before continuing.
“We are going to split up into groups of thirty, the team Reshiram takes Northern Miami and the other thirty is team Zekrom goes Southern.''
I was chosen to be part of team Zekrom which goes more southern. I was born in Kendall, so I am assuming that is why they put me in that direction. After some of my other friends called me over.
“Kyurem what direction you were put in?”
My real name was Ky but due to my not-so-subtle Pokemon addition it became Kyurem as a little nod to one of the creatures in the deck.
“Southern,” I told them
Some of them cheered excitedly knowing I was one of the most skilled on the whole team. My best friend from high school, Joaquin, was also on the team and was chosen to be on the Southern part as well. Straight out of high school, we were put to fight in the war and every day was a different adventure. It felt good to go into battle with all your friends because it feels as if you were playing Call of Duty from our childhood in real life. Honestly, it was fun in the beginning, but now it has been so long and boring that I do not know how much war I have in me.
After some small talk, I walked up to Joaquin and said “We should get going to the tank before it leaves us.” We hop into a sleek black tank that can drive through both land and water. The team followed a path given to us by our leaders to survey and inspect the area for any people still left in their houses. I could not understand how people were still living here after all that this area has gone through with massive flooding and war. We found a few homes with people still living in them and we reported it to our Chief. We went farther down US-1 to Palmetto Bay and noticed hundreds of thousands of CREE robots marching all across Deering Estate. You could see millions of robots down the coast of Miami coming by the boatload. They were marching faster than our tanks could move in the water, so we had to retreat back toward the other half of the team while trying to fight the closer robots.
Some of us went ahead to clear any robots in front of us and to try to reach deeper parts of the water so we would not get shot by any of the robots. The robots cannot get fully submerged in water or else they will short circuit. So we were taught in military training to either shoot them or fully submerge them into the water. You can even grab them a few at a time to destroy more and more robots. We stopped near a run-down Dadeland Mall to see if there were any supplies or food for the road. I remembered going here as a child with all the stores and the food court filled with a plethora of people. Now all there was was an empty mellow darkness that not only engulfed the mall, but Miami in general. I was enjoying my Sour Patch Watermelon on one of the sea turtles in the middle of a playground pit when a missile blew through the food court. I ran as fast as I could through the thin layer of water. I was running through screaming “Joaquin! Joaquin! Are you alright please don’t be in that wreckage.”
Joaquin was there traumatized and had just seen his friends and brothers blown to pieces. I hugged him tightly knowing absolute pain was going through his mind. We rallied up on the second floor of the parking garage to count up how many men we had lost. Our team took 7 casualties. We came together to question what the plan was to do next. We knew what we needed to do to help us survive, we needed to keep moving forward toward the rendezvous point. The CREE knew where we were so at any moment the robots could come and kill us all. It was painful to leave them behind with no burial or ceremony to respectfully put them to rest, but we had to keep going with the imminent danger we knew was right behind us.
We kept having to go on both ground and water due to the ups and downs of the Palmetto expressway. Team Reshiram told us to meet up at the Miami International Airport. It was a big open area engulfed by water, so we were able to fight the CREE no problem. On the way to the airport, we could see CREE robots exploding buildings and vast areas of housing with no regard for human life. I could see children running from their broken down homes. It felt as if this was a nightmare that I was living. My community I lived around falling apart into pieces, decimated by these robots. The tanks were blasting cannons towards the robots hoping to provide cover for people to get to safety.
We rushed to the airport because Team Reshiram was already fighting against the CREE. So the water team quickly gets off the tanks and jumps into the water.we had our listening devices in our ear, so we could communicate to everyone even through all the fighting. I ask Chief Mew, “How many people have we lost? ”
Someone replies, “Half of our team have been shot. We are going to need some serious back up or else we are going to end up like our fallen brothers!” I don't say anything else knowing the severity of the situation we are in. I jump out the water blasting five robots. While I was out of the water when I saw some helicopters far in the distance. With that I knew where we were at least going to get out of this tough battle. So I kept fighting, grabbing any of the robot's legs I could and completely submerged them in water. But I noticed these robots seemed to be annoyed by our fire and just kept marching north. They weren't looking to fight us but they were shooting at the helicopters coming.
I screamed at everyone in the headset, “Just start shooting and grabbing them, they are not focused on us!”
The tanks and all 38 of us opened fire on all the CREE robots. The helicopters were getting harder to protect because they were getting closer. We received a signal from the helicopter that they needed one CREE robot alive when they landed, so they could hack into their AI script and shut down all the robots.
I asked them “If you get me that chip I can stick it into one of those robots ” and they replied “The robots are all programmed to kill anyone with this chip, you won’t be able to stick it in the robot. We only have one chance at this to work.” I told them “We will buy you some time and get you the robot.” The helicopter was about to touch land. All the robots were marching toward the helicopter. Our team kept blasting every robot in the range of the helicopter, protecting it at all costs. They were trying to figure out how to get this chip into one of the robots.
“It needs to go on the back of the head of the robot,” the scientist said.
I volunteered to be the one to do it even if it risked my life. I wanted this war to be over, so my wife and kids and their kids can have a normal life away from suffering.
As I ran towards the helicopter, I saw a group of robots bunch up like cheerleaders grab a robot, and throw it into the air at the helicopter. The robot went into the blades of the helicopter. There was a huge explosion. It blew me back into the water and at that moment everything felt hopeless. I was in the water for what felt like hours, minutes, and days, time didn’t matter anymore because we lost. It was over. Humanity, forever gone, taking me with it.
