It was 2063 and the world had changed in ways that no one could have predicted. The sea level had risen 7 feet, and the city of Miami was now a flooded, devastated place. The streets had become canals and the former tall buildings were now underwater. The sun beat down on the city and humidity filled the air as the citizens of Miami adjusted to their new reality. Then there was Maria who had grown up without her parents, and she had learned to be independent at a really young age. Maria's dad left when she was 2 years old and her mother died some years after leaving her to be raised by her aunt. Her aunt had taken care of her and taught her how to survive in this new world, but she too had passed away recently thanks to sea level rises, leaving Maria completely alone. With all the things her aunt taught her, Maria went out to the world determined to survive in its rising waters. She had learned how to navigate the flooded streets in a boat, and she had become an expert at looking for food and supplies. But life in this new world was dangerous, and Maria had to be constantly on guard against dangers that were found in the water.

As Maria started her journey she encountered a group of survivors that were trying to get a better life there in that place full of water and sadness, she said hi to the and joined them with the same purpose. Maria and the group of survivors gathered in an improvised boat made from scraps of metal and wood. They were a diverse group of individuals from all different backgrounds who had joined together to try to survive in this new world. Maria and the group of survivors were from different parts of Miami and had come together to survive in this new water world. Some of them were originally from the downtown area, while others had lived in the suburbs or near the coast. The group was diverse in terms of age, ethnicity, and profession, but they all shared the same goal, to stay alive and rebuild their city. Maria, who was originally from Cuba, had been working as a marine biologist in Miami for over a decade. She had a deep love for the ocean and was passionate about protecting marine life. When the sea levels began to rise, she knew that her expertise would be invaluable. The other survivors came from all walks of life. There was Tom, a retired police officer who had lost his wife and daughter to the flooding. There was also Ana, a young college student who had been studying environmental science before the floods. She had lost her entire family and had joined the group in the hopes of making a difference in this new world. Other members of the group included Jorge, a fisherman who knew the waters like the back of his hand, and Mei-Lin, a doctor who had been working at a nearby hospital before the floods. Each member of the group had a unique skill set that made them essential to their survival.

Together, they were determined to make the most of their new reality and build a better future for themselves and their city. Maria took on the role of leader, her passion for marine life and her love for Miami had only grown stronger since the floods. She was determined to use her knowledge and expertise to help the survivors not only survive but thrive in their new world. Maria had spent years studying the effects of climate change on Miami's marine life. She knew which species were resilient and which were struggling to adapt. She used this knowledge to guide the survivors in their search for food and resources. She also taught them how to fish sustainably and how to avoid damaging the delicate marine ecosystems that were now their home. As the leader of the group, Maria was always looking for ways to improve their situation. She would spend hours each day mapping out their journey, looking for new sources of food and water, and assessing potential risks. Her strategic thinking and calm demeanor were essential to the group's survival. Despite the challenges they faced, Maria refused to give up hope. She was determined to rebuild Miami and create a better world for future generations. She believed that they had a unique opportunity to learn from the mistakes of the past and create a more sustainable and equitable society. Maria's strength and determination inspired the other survivors to keep going, even when the odds seemed impossible. They looked up to her as a leader and trusted her judgment completely. As they sailed through the canals and encountered new challenges, Maria remained a steady presence, leading the group forward with purpose and vision.

One day, as Maria and the survivors were navigating the flooded streets, they encountered a band of pirates. They were a rough-looking bunch, armed with guns and knives, and they had a reputation for being ruthless. Maria knew that they had to be very careful, or they could end up dead. As Maria tried her best to help the survivor slip past the pirates unnoticed, she noticed one of them staring at her intently. He had a rough beard and deep lines etched into his face, and Maria had a strange feeling that she had seen him before. But she couldn't place him, and she quickly pushed the thought aside. Maria managed to help them slip past the pirates and continued with them on their way, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. She had a strange sense of familiarity with the pirate who had been staring at her, and she couldn't figure out why.

As they continued on their journey, Maria couldn't help but think about the pirate who had seemed to recognize her. She wondered if he could be someone she had met before the floods or if he was just a coincidence. Maria knew that it was important not to let her guard down, especially around dangerous individuals like the pirates. She advised the group to be extra cautious and to avoid any potential danger. But as they continued on, the group encountered the pirates again, this time in a much more dangerous situation. The pirates had set up a blockade in the canal, preventing anyone from passing through. Maria knew that they had to act quickly if they wanted to avoid a confrontation. She signaled to the group to follow her lead, and they started to slowly move towards the blockade, hoping to find a way through without being detected. As they approached the blockade, one of the pirates spotted them and raised his gun. Maria quickly sprang into action, diving into the water and swimming towards the pirate with all her strength. The pirate was caught off guard, and Maria was able to disarm him and knock him unconscious. The other pirates quickly noticed what had happened and started to close in on Maria and the group. But before they could launch an attack, the pirate who had been staring at Maria stepped forward and spoke up. "Wait, hold on," he said, holding out his hand. "I know her. She's Maria, the marine biologist. She could be a great ally for us.” The other pirates looked at him skeptically, but the man continued to vouch for Maria, insisting that she was a valuable asset to their group. Maria was surprised by this sudden turn of events but decided to trust the pirate's judgment. She introduced herself and the rest of the survivors to the pirate, who introduced himself as Captain Marcos. Marcos was the leader of a group of pirates who had been living off the coast of Miami since before the floods. He had a reputation for being a fierce fighter, but he was also known for being fair and just to those who were on his side. Marcos invited Maria and the other survivors to join his group, offering them protection and resources in exchange for their skills and labor. Maria was hesitant at first, but the other survivors were eager to accept Marcos’ offer. They knew that they couldn't survive on their own forever, and Marcos’ group seemed to offer a level of safety and stability that they desperately needed. Maria and the other survivors worked hard to prove their worth to them. They helped to repair boats and also helped to fish, they would collect valuable resources that were traded with other groups along the coast. Maria's expertise in marine biology proved to be incredibly valuable, and she quickly became an important member of Marcos’ team.

As Maria felt that she was getting closer and closer to Marcos, she couldn't help but think about how did he know about her, and why he would protect her how he is doing now. He was sitting down looking at the sunset and just admiring how pretty it was, Maria was walking to where he was and she turned to him and asked quietly, "Why did you protect me from the other pirates if you didn't even know me?”. The pirate looked at Maria with a mix of sadness and joy in his eyes and decide to tell her everything as he was waiting for her to ask him about that. "I did know you, Maria. I have been looking for you for a long time now," he said, his voice cracking. Maria with a confused face took a step back. "Looking for me? Why?" she asked. The pirate took a deep breath and began to tell Maria his story. "You see, Maria, I'm your father. When you were just a baby, I had to leave you with your mother. It wasn't what I wanted, but things between your mother and me were not good. I had to take that decision, and it has haunted me ever since." Maria's eyes widened as she heard her father's words. She couldn't believe it. "You're my dad?" she whispered. "Yes, Maria. When I first saw you on that island, I couldn't believe my eyes. I knew I had to get to you, to protect you, and to finally make things right," her father said, his voice filled with emotion. Maria felt a lump form in her throat as she listened to her father's story. She had never known anything about her father, and now, here he was, in the middle of the ocean, saving her life. She looked at him, and for the first time, she saw the sadness and pain that he had been carrying with him for so long. "I didn't want to leave you, Maria. But after I did, I didn't have any reason to have faith or to feel any love for anyone again, that's why I became a pirate. Years later I started looking for you and found you… I had to do whatever it took to survive and to find you," her father said, his eyes filled with tears. Maria felt her heart break for her father. She knew that he had been through so much, and now, he had finally found her. She reached out and took his hand, holding it tightly. "I'm here, dad. You found me. And now, we'll find a way to be together," she said, giving him a small smile. Her father looked at her, and for the first time in a long time, he felt hope. "Yes, Maria. We will be together. I promise."

With tears in her eyes, Maria embraced her father, grateful for the truth and for his love. They shared stories and caught up on the years that had been stolen from them. Later that night, Maria and her father announced to everyone that they were father and daughter. The survivors were amazed and overjoyed, while the pirates were shocked and a little confused. But as they listened to the story of how Maria's father had searched for her for years, and how he had risked everything to protect her, they began to understand. And when he explained that his love for his daughter had given him a reason to change his ways and become a better person, they were inspired. Together, the survivors and the pirates worked to make Miami a better place to live, despite the flooding and the devastation. They rebuilt homes and businesses, and they looked out for each other. In the end, Maria and her father found a new family among the people of Miami. And while they knew that there would still be challenges and struggles ahead, they also knew that they would face them together, with love and courage.
